Budget Friendly Beauty Tips and Tricks
Looking over-the-top gorgeous can be time-consuming and expensive. While searching for the best products and beauty solutions the average women spends over $15,000 and 335 hours (two-weeks) on their appearance each year.
At one time, I was spending over $250 each month to maintain my manicures, pedicures, waxing, hairstyles and eyelash extensions. OMG, $3024 on personal care a year! I could of bought new furniture or booked an European excursion!
I decided to share some of my budget friendly beauty helpers with you. Most can be found in your kitchen cabinet or refrigerator. Take some of the money you'll save and treat yourself to a staycation or new purse ;)
- Skip expensive body scrubs. You can easiy get silky, smooth skin at home with a homemade body scrub. Mix one part olive oil with two parts sea salt or raw sugar, then add a few drops of an essential oil (try lavender or grapefruit). Gently scrub over your body and rinse with warm water.
- Extend your mascara. Can't bring yourself to purchasing a new mascara every 3 months? Extend the life of your current mascara by adding 2-3 drops of saline or contact lens solution to the container. Also, using less mascara by applying baby powder with a q-tip between only two layers of it. Your lashes will look longer and fuller without applying several chunky coats.
- Create your own lip scrub. Smooth, flake-free lips are an essential first step when applying lip color. Mix equal parts brown sugar and olive oil. Gently massage the mixture over lips and remove with a facial tissue. Then proceed as normal with your lipstick routine.
- Purchase a set of Flip-It! Caps. Replacing the cap of your nearly empty lotions, creams, shampoos, conditioners and other hair products with a Flip-It! and get to those last few valuable drops with ease. This cap stabilizes your bottle upside down and uses gravity to get everything that’s inside out. Check it out on QVC
